Heritage in Schools

The Heritage Council Expert in Schools. Alison visits national schools to explore built heritage, particularly the influence of the classical style on the everyday architecture of Irish towns and villages. Using window glass technology as a case study, pupils investigate the effects of technology on the buildings we use. We spend as much of the class as possible looking and working outside, using place-based learning to connect with local heritage, landscape and buildings. Ideas and inspiration taken from the locality develop social, cultural and emotional links to the community.
