Mosaic

Detail of current mosaic project - watch this space!

Mosaic of the Lost Palace of Lixnaw.

Mosaic as part of the Lixnaw Community Project, 2019.

Through discussion with the local community it was decided to make an outdoor artwork using mosaic. It will sit directly opposite a large, ivy covered ruin called the Lost Palace of Lixnaw. It The design is inspired by an 18th C  print of a building in London on which the design of the building was believed to be based on. The mosaic will inform the public of what the large ruin may have looked like when it was first built. The design includes ivy to suggest the building’s future fate.

Lohan’s Pharmacy shop sign. Galway City.

Detail showing pharmacy accoutrements.

An early mosaic of Protues, the Greek god of seas and rivers. It’s not the kind of work I’d do now, but I liked the seals. It was the first time that I really got into the ‘adamanto’ or rythm of building up a picture using tiny pieces of tesserae.
